Drawing is fundamental to Carroll Dunham’s practice, a medium through which he explores and examines variations of motifs, figures, and compositions. First exhibited at the Kunsthalle Dusseldorf in 2019, this suite of works on paper connects to Dunham’s most recent series of tree paintings. These energetic, expressive drawings joyfully capture the cartoon-like trees in various states of emotion, marking a new chapter in the artist’s decade-long exploration of the motif.
